We lost our dear Sujit who was such a critical player in SCARF’s growth for 20 years. A sharp intellect, great warmth, patience, a great leader and mentor- you will be sorely missed. You have taken with you a big chunk of my heart, which has ever been in appreciation of your sterling qualities. Rest without pain Sujit.

Dear Sujit,
You have moved on
A relief from all the pain that you suffered
You have left behind
All the knowledge that you shared
All the good counsel that you gave
To colleagues young and old
So kind and gentle
So soft, yet firm
So sure of what you knew,
Of what you wanted
We will all miss you
Knowing that we should
Celebrate what you have given us
Rest in peace

I was terribly shocked when I came to know about the demise of one of my former students, Mr.Sujit John. He did M.A., in the Department of Psychology at the University of Madras from 1993 to 1995. Though I could gauge his intellectual capacity through several interactions I had in and off lecture halls as well as laboratories he never tried to “over impress” any of his faculty members. He was a strong silent student. After he successfully completed his M.A., program he never visited the department of psychology till I officially retired from service as a Professor in 2018. I wish I had known his whereabouts so that I could have contacted him. I have no words to express my sadness when I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family members through this medium. I pray for his soul to rest in peace and for all his family members to overcome this grief at the earliest.
